Gingerbread Angel
"Ginger" was my 2011 entry in the Columbus Dispatch Holiday Art contest. They gave the pattern and contestants were to decorate it. Mine was all hand cut and hand painted. She didn't win or even place but was fun to make and I kept her for my tree. The winners all centered around pop culture (lady gaga's meat dress!) and political satire.
Wood egg snowman
Love this whimsy little guy and I kept one for my Christmas tree! A wood or paper mache egg glued on a clip clothespin.

Garden Angel wind chime
Lots of detal on all sides including 2 dimensional accents on her dress, garden hose, facial features, and a kitten peeking out of her pocket.
Clear glass ball snowmen ornaments
These are so much fun to make and always a sell out at shows. A simple clear class ornament ball filled with artificial snow and a whimsy snowman face painted on. A clear varnish protects the painted area and they can be personalized with a permanent marker.

Pet ornaments
These were also a big hit at my 2012 Christmas show. I personalized them for customers. I think every dog in central Ohio got an ornament this year as well as 2 that were sent off to Australia!

Frost on the Pumpkins
A colorful 16 x 20 folk art autumn village scene. I love barns and pumpkins! All the pumpkins have a touch of "frost" on them using crystal stickles.

Snowman & Candy Cane lighted brick
SOLD. Another 3x8 glass brick. A whimsy snowman holding onto a candy cane! I like the black border on this one. Added a fabric tie and filled with 20 white lights for a soft, warm glow.
Piano Frame
SOLD. A small wood frame painted in a music motif. Started out as a picture frame (my son's hands on the keyboard). I cut a mirror to fit the opening and it was soon purchased by a music teacher.
Key Cabinet
SOLD. A New England fishing village scene on a small wood cabinet. Inside has multiple hooks to hold your keys.
Countdown to Christmas
SOLD. Lots and lots of detail on this one! Small decorative nails hold numbers counting down the days till Christmas.
Faux pumpkin
SOLD. Another favorite pumpkin! Black cat witchie riding a broom. Won 2nd place 2010 Ohio State Fair arts and crafts competition in the tole painting folk art category. Painted the back of the pumpkin in matching colors with a patchwork quilt design.
Hand painted candle and metal tray
Winter holly painted on a scented wax candle using a special candle painting medium. Sits on a metal tray that's painted with a matching design and trimmed with gold accents. 2nd place winner 2008 Ohio State Fair arts and crafts competition in the candle category.
Angel candle holder
SOLD. Painted on a wood 5 candle holder. I added scented tea candles but the battery operated tea candles would be great in this too. 1st place winner 2008 Ohio State Fair arts & craftes competition in the patriotic category. I do well in this catagory at the fair every year.
Cookie wreath
SOLD. The shape and dimension of these wood "cookies" gave them a realistic look when painted. Added them to a wreath. 3rd place wreath division at the 2007 Ohio State Fair arts & crafts competition.
Repurposed wine bottle
SOLD. A discarded wine bottle turned into a decorative and functional olive oil dispenser. Handpainted then sealed with several coats of clear, water proof varnish. Made a great gift.
Raven Journal
SOLD. Altered composition book covered wth scrapbook paper. Drew and painted Raven on water color paper and added to cover. Added vintage scrabble tiles and an antique skeleton key. Sold on Etsy.
Patriotic rusty bucket
SOLD. Rusty tin with a patriotic Americana design. Filled this one with bathroom hand towels. 1st place winner 2008 Ohio State Fair arts & crafts competion in the patriotic category.

Ice Skate Wreath
SOLD. I found the leather and vinyl ice skates are a very comfortable surface to paint on. Skates are easy to find at the thrift store and most are like new. I attached this one to a wreath and others I just added greenery in the boot and a wire hanger. 2nd place winner Ohio State Fair arts and crafts competition in the wreath category.
Wood wine box
SOLD. Very detailed wood wine box painted with a tuscan street bistro design. Texture created with tissue paper and decoupage medium. Inside lid covered with wine labels. Lined with a wine colored crushed velvet. 3rd place 2006 Ohio State Fair arts & crafts competition in the box with lid category.
Santa pin
Hand cut and hand painted by me. I used to wear this to holiday art shows until someone bought it right off my lapel!
Wood Scrabook
SOLD. Lots of detail on this wood scrapbook. Front and back were painted and I filled it with 12x12 scrapbook paper and page protectors. Won 2nd place at the 2008 Ohio State Fair arts and crafts competition in the tole painting holiday division.

Lizard Mirror
Hand cut lizard, mirror, and frame. Sponge painted backgroud gives it a sandy textured look. Won 2nd place at the 2006 Ohio State Fair arts & crafts competition in the tole realistic animals division.
Floral painted brick
SOLD. Hydrangeas and a basket design on a very heavy retaining wall brick. Used outdoor paint for use on a porch or as a garden accent. Won 3rd place in the tole floral category in the 2007 Ohio State Fair arts & crafts competition.
Cherries serving tray and crows cutting board
SOLD. Wood tray with a bowl of cherries and a jar of sugar. Won 2nd place in the still life category at the 2007 Ohio State Fair arts & crafts competition. Wood cutting board wtth crows won 2nd place in the folk art division at the 2006 Ohio State Fair.
Rusty tin Santa ornament
SOLD. Santa painted on a rusty tin cut out. I was quite pleased with the eyes (always a challenge for me!) on this piece. The finished ornament was inserted into a pocket in a handmade Christmas card. Someone got a holiday greeting as well as a gift with this one.
Rusty tin bird house
SOLD. Rusty tin, metal primer, acrylic paint, and outdoor sealer. The tin takes some steps to prepare but a great surface to paint on.
Snuggie scrapbook page
NFS. 2010 was the year that everyone got a Snuggie for Christmas! Even the dogs & cat posed in a Snuggie! Made a great scrapbook page! The holly & berries were cut from my Cricket and shaded and hilighted with acrylic paint and stickles glitter glue. I drew and painted the tree in the pot.
Patriotic Picnic Basket
SOLD. I love these baskets with lids to paint on! Same design as the antique stool but adjusted pattern to fit the basket lid. Filled with matching picnic supplies and I added a fabric handle tie. Won 2nd place at the 2010 Ohio State Fair arts & crafts competition in the patriotic category. This was my door prize donation at the 2011 ChristmasFair, Columbus, Ohio, 25th anniversary show. I was told it was one of the first pieces selected by a door prize winner.
Lottery Game Box
SOLD. Not a painting but was fun to make. I used lots of looser Ohio lottery tickets from our lottery playing group at work. Decopauged on a wood box and filled with games. The top of the box had LUCKY spelled out using repurposed scrabble tiles. A red rabbits foot added to the theme. Won 1st place at the 2010 Ohio State Fair arts & crafts competition in the decoupage category. A customer was very happy with this one of a kind piece.
Halloween Light House
SOLD. Made from clay flower pots stacked and glued together with an outdoor silicon glue. Lots of Halloween designs and the solar light on top lights a path for the trick or treaters.
Gourd Santa ornament
SOLD. Santa painted on a small gourd. The eyes were a challenge on such a small surface. The fur and glitter really added to this piece.
Beach wall hanging
This is actually a pre-primed floor cloth cut to the shape of the pattern. The starfish are cut from a sheet of cork and painted for a realistic look. A great surface to paint on. Won 2nd place at the 2007 Ohio State Fair arts & crafts competition in the tole fabric category. I have this hanging on the door of my home studio.
Barrell stave pumpkin
Hand painted on a wood pumpkin shaped barrell stave. Lots of layers of autumn colors. This will look good on a wreath.
Glass ornaments and wood box
SOLD. Anything with a snowman always sells well at Christmas shows. Clear glass balls painted with 2 designs and a small wood box to store them in. This sold as a gift to a snowman collector. I enjoy a customer telling me about who their purchase is for and sometimes a reasn why.
4 Seasons Basket
SOLD. Another basket with the hinged wood lid. I love painting 4 seasons and use several designs on various surfaces. This one includes a favorite bible verse.

Cupid heart
NFS. Hand painted on a wood heart that I cut out with my scroll saw. (I tend to get power tools for Christmas instead of jewelry!) I hang this one up in January every year to remind me that spring is "just around the corner!" Entered in 2006 Ohio State fair holiday character category but didn't place.
Folk Art Pumpkin
SOLD. This is the first faux pumpkin I painted. Lots of detail! 4 competitions with this piece before it sold! 3rd place pumpkin decorating contest at work 2006--1st place 2007 Ohio State Fair arts & crafts competition folk art catagory--2nd place Grove City's Arts in the Alley 2007--and finally 1st place at Michaels pumpkin decorating contest 2008.
